I’ve been a sailwave user for some years now and been mostly lurking in the background of the user group, acquiring just enough knowledge to successfully score events at my sailing club.
I recently saw a response Jon gave to another user which mentioned the SWPrize program, so I gave it a try and liked it, however, is there anyway to add a “Club” column to the printout?
At present I just highlight the prize winners on the printed results, which includes the “Club” column and can run to several sheets, but a single sheet showing all prize winners would be a far neater solution so long as I could add in the “Club” column.
Any suggestions?
Stewart
Hi Stewart - To try and keep things simple to use, its always very difficult to decide what to include and what not to include.
Prize giving is always a stressful time for the scorer as there are usually last minute changes and everyone is waiting for the prizegiving. To this end as much as possible is kept automatic.
SWPrize automatically has 4 columns that are displayed if they are used (i.e. they are set to publish)
These are :-
Nat
Class
Fleet
Division
You don’t say which ones you are using but if its a school regatta then I’m sure one of these will be free - Probably Nat is not used. So if you were to copy the club field to the Nat field and then this would be displayed on the SWPrize list.
You can easily copy them using the Menu-Tools-Set competitor Field
If this is not feasible then it would mean a custom version of SWPrize for you.
Let me know how you get on
Jon

Jon,
Thanks for your prompt response to my query and the suggested workaround.
I used the “Nat” column as suggested and this works fine, except that I can’t change the column heading on the printout. So, whilst the contents of the column show school names, the column heading still says “Nationality”.
I tried renaming the “Nat” column to “School” in my sailwave file but this doesn’t get passed to the Prize program.

Hi Stewart - I guess it really depends on what you want to use it for. If its just for someone to read out the prizes from which is most often the case, then I wouldn’t expect that to be much of problem. If you however want to publish it somewhere then it may be good to edit the file with an html editor to get it to look as you want. The headings are currently hardcoded in. I guess I could interrogate Sailwave to see if the columns had been renamed - A little job for winter!

Jon,
Thanks again.
As you say, the prize giving is always a stressful time for the scorer who is always under time pressure to get the (accurate) results out.
html editing works but only adds to the time pressure, so I’d appreciate it if you could add the interrogation of sailwave to check if column headings have been renamed, to your winter to-do list.
Our next schools regatta is June 2018.
