Hi Mark,
My first long version of this message just self-destructed so this is
a shorter version.
Two more checkboxes added to Edit+Code defining whether or not a code
represents a boat that started or finished. Then #starters = #boats
with a results + #codes marked as starting; ditto finishers.
For the purposes of upgrading 1.45 series I've assumed that:-
DNC,DNS,OCS,BFD -> not starters (all other codes are)
DNC,DNS,OCS,BFD,DNF -> not finishers (all other codes are)
I'm quite prepared to tweak these assumptions if i've got them
wrong...

How do you define finishers?
The definition in the rules is as follows....
Finish A boat finishes when any part of her hull, or crew or
equipment in
normal position, crosses the finishing line in the direction of the
course
from the last mark, either for the first time or after taking a
penalty
under rule 31.2 or 44.2 or, under rule 28.1, after correcting an
error made
at the finishing line.
So the number of finishers would equal the number of starters minus
the DNF,
and would therefore include DSQ, OCS, and RAF? Is this correct....

Hi Matt,
The code methods repertoire has been extended to handle starters +
N and
finishers + N which should cover your requirements. These changes
will be
available in 1.47Beta1 which is due for release shortly.

Hi,
Our clubs Si's call for the scoring codes
DNC,RET to be scored Finishers+2,
DSQ = Starters+2
OCS,DNF,DNS = Starters +1
Sailwave only allows the number of 'racers' to be used in scoring
systems
MY question is when scoring a series does sailwave consider 'racers'
to be all those who finished or all those who came to the starting
area.
Currently we enter scoring codes by hand into sailwave, but it would
be much nicer to tailor the clubs scoring system to sailwave's
abilities. However many of the longtime racers will be quite
resistant to any changes of this effect.
Do any members of the sailwave SUG have any ideas on how to make
this
work with minimal impact on club racing tradition?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
