Hi Colin
If you are going to look into changing the tie-breaking options, could you possibly consider the following (if you have time)
I run an RS Sprint event which is scored on a high point scoring system but only n boats receive points, the remainder in the race score zero (similar to F1 motor racing)
When I tested SW to see how it dealt with tie-breaks, it seemed to go back to places if boats were still tied after A8.1 & both scored zero in the last race.
The Sprint is lots of 4 race series so applying A8.2 is more likely.
Unfortunately, this meant that I had to design a spreadsheet to score the event where I enter the finishing order of boats & the system calculates the points, then I resolve ties manually
It would be nice if SW could do it all for me
Regards
Ralph
This could be a tick box with choice for A8.1 use places instead of scores (non standard) but…
This has an influence on other cases.
If boats are tied in a race (2 seconds, scored 2.5 according to App A7), further ties in the series are broken in favour of the places, not scores, so both have scores of 2 instead of 2.5 used for tie breaking.
And how to cope with codes? do you assume that DNF > DNS > DNC? Where to place OCS, DSQ, RAF in this hierarchy?
