Topper Scoring using fleets

All is resolved ! I found John Harvey and he has clarified all.

Regards
Seamus

Seamus,

I agree with all the points raised by Ralph, they had crossed my

mind as

well but I could not think how to express them. Regarding Ralph

being away

I am around if you feel it would be useful for someone else to look

at the

Sailwave file you are working on.

Kind regards,
Huw

PS - Ralph have a great time at the NSAA regatta, but only away two

days

  Hi Seamus

If I understand your problem correctly, a Blue boat started in

the second

start instead of the first
Did she also fly a green ribbon in error which caused her to be

included

in the wrong results sheet ??
Was she set up as a blue boat in SW???

The SIs are not absolutely clear but I presume that start 1 raced

on the

outer loop & start 2 raced the inner loop
If the boat sailed the wrong course, she should be protested

under 28.1 &

scored DSQ (assuming protest committee came to this decision).
Alternatively, if she sailed the proper course but just 'started

late',

then she would be scored as last place in her correct start. (no

time limit

from 1st boat finishing)

I don't understand why you had to re-score her in different

fleets &

create a clone???
All the competitors are in the same series (file) & they simply

get a

finishing position
On the assumption that she sailed the wrong course, her result

should be

changed to DSQ & the other boats behind her in the same start,

moved up a

place

Whilst trying to write this email & make sense of what may have

happened,

Huw has been send replies as well.
I agree with Huw that this whole event should be in one file with

races

1-6 as Qualifying races & the rest as Finals
From a Results Officer point of view it is one single series (all

week) &

the only issue you need to consider is the one about number of

counting

races/discards in the finals series

It might be worth sending a copy of your .blw file if you feel it
necessary.
However, I am leaving home about 11:00 to go to the NSSA National

Regatta

in Derbyshire
Will be back at my computer Thursday evening

Yes I do work (part-time) but try & make sure that it doesn't get

in the

  Wow - that's impressive service!
  Thanks

I will be building the Final series today and importing/linking

the

qualifying etc. after I do some reading. There is little wind

today

so I may get a quiet few hours !

I had a competitor that sailed under the wrong fleet colour

(green)in

Race 1 (0nly)so I had to rescore her in the fleet she sailed in
(green) rather than the one she was initially scored in (Blue).
The only way I could do this was to create a clone and score the
clone as Green for Race 1 and DNC for the other races and score

the

origional sailor as DNC for Race 1 and normal for the balance of

the

  races.
This fixes the Blue fleet, whose results she messed up, but I then
have to manually adjust her result at add her and the clone for

Race

  1. Is there a simpler way? Then I can have a non manually adjusted
qualifying result to go into the Finals.

Thanks for all your hekp to date - I'm sure like me you have

daytimne

  jobs!
Results to date are on www.traleebaysailingclub.com ( thyey are

the

FFREQ results but we habe used both systems with independent data
entry and scoring - and they both agreed line by line !So that

gave

us great conficence in the results. I hope to get a SW version on

the

web for the final results !
