I just received a file created in Sailwave in 2009 (not sure what version of Sailwave was used) and cannot open the file. Looks like I am running 2.02 build 6. Should I be able to open files created with earlier versions?
Hi,
You should be able to find out what version of Sailwave the file you
have was created in, by opening the .BLW file in a text editor.
Sailwave .BLW is just a text file. You are looking for a line like
this
“serversion”,“2.03 build 15”,"",""
I have not had problems in the past opening a .BLW file created in a
previous version of Sailwave, but it was only one created one or two
versions old. I don’t know if it is from a lot older version.
I am willing to take a look at your file if you would like me to.
Kind regards,
Huw

Hi Huw
In the files section of the yahoo group is a .blw file I placed there in May 2001.
Ent.blw does, I can confirm, open in today’s sailwave

Thanks folks. Looks like it was created version 1.95 build 6. I was able to open it in Sailwave after all.

Sorry, too late to be of any help, but sometimes I find I cannot open sailwave files when they’ve been attached to an email by clicking on the attachment, which should in theory fire up sailwave with the file open inside. However if I save the very same file to my desktop, open sailwave and then use the open command it usually works fine.
Anyone else get this?
Chris
