Two Sets of Ratings - BIG PROBLEM

I need to use 2 versions of PYs - one for club racing & one for open meetings.
To get round this I have installed 2 copies of Sailwave - SW Club & SW Open

In SW Club ratings directory, I have club PY files
In SW Open ratings directory, I have the RYA PY files

This used to work fine in earlier versions of SW but now I have the following problems.

1. If I change the path of the ratings directory, the classes do not show when entering a new
competitor (the old files are still being used!!!!) until I shut down SW & start up again
2. If I change/amend a PY file using the "view folder content" option, the change does not show when
entering a new competitor until I shut down SW & start up again

AND WORST OF ALL
3. If I set a ratings path in SW Club, it automatically uses the same path in SW Open & vice versa
Presume this is because of some global settings which assume that there is only one version of SW on
the computer.

Is this a bug in SW or should I be approaching the need for 2 versions of PYs in a different way?

Regards
Ralph

Hi Ralph,

The rating folder is a global to the computer so all installations will use
the same one.

I would do it differently anyway, create a new rating system called PY2 or
something and do it that way...

Regards,
Colin

Hi Ralph,

Sorry, rushing, meant use cusom rating system - the expression you need is
e/r for corrected time. Then in the rating files use "custom" not "ryapy"
(or whatever it is). Then use custom or RYA PY as appropos in your scoring
system.

corrected: e/r
elapsed: c*r
rating: e/c

Alternatively you could extend the rating files with different classes for
lub racing e.g. Dart18=798, ClubDart18=800 or something.

Colin

I do have a proposal to make all this rating stuff far easier to use and would dearly love to get to it, but, deep dodo’s at work at the moment and the wife is starting to wonder why the bathroom is still not finished after 4 or more years… Need 3 day long days…

An easier solution is to hijack one of the other rating systems that uses a similar formula - e.g. USA PN or YVC (see tooltips for each one) and rename the rating column… You’d just have to divide the ratings by 10 cos VYC is 100r/e whereas PY is 1000r/e…

competitor (the old files are still being used!!!!) until I shut down SW &

start up again
2. If I change/amend a PY file using the “view folder content” option, the
change does not show when
entering a new competitor until I shut down SW & start up again

AND WORST OF ALL
3. If I set a ratings path in SW Club, it automatically uses the same path
in SW Open & vice versa
Presume this is because of some global settings which assume that there is
only one version of SW on
the computer.

Is this a bug in SW or should I be approaching the need for 2 versions of
  PYs in a different way?

Regards
Ralph
