Unable to import Handicap

I have been trying to import the Portsmouth Yardstick handicaps and
utilize it with Sailwave. To date I have been unable to make it work.
Any suggestions?

Thanks...

Hi,

Ratings files are by default kept in the Ratings sub-folder of Sailwave. The rating file is in CSV format and each line of the file has specific order of information. Various rating files can be downloaded from the website.

The other thing that might be hindering you is that the default start-up of Sailwave is to produce results for level rating fleets, i.e. no handicap! To allow the production of results on handicap you need to use the UI button the tool bar and click the radio button next to the “Pro - Additional facilities are available as detailed below.” option then click the check box beside “Handicap racing”.

Hope this helps.

If you need further information then ask.

Kind regards,

Huw

I don’t have a “Handicap
Racing” button (1.95 build 6). Am I missing something?

I do have a problem using 1.95 b6 when
adding new boats as the PY doesn’t get called until I run “score
series”. Also when adding new I get a new line but then have to edit
competitor to put in the details. Previously adding new took you straight to
the competitor box.

Ian,

There is NO “Handicap Racing” button.

To turn on Handicap racing capability:

  • Click the UI button the toolbar

  • Click the radio button beside " Pro - Additional facilities as detailed below are available"

  • Click in the check box beside “Handicap racing”

  • Click the OK button
Regarding the problem with adding a new user; to restore the previous functionality

  • Click Setup in the Menu bar

  • Click Global Options

  • Click in box beside Auto edit new competitors

  • Click OK button
There is an option on the “Rating System” tab of the Scoring System window, which is opened by clicking on the “Series Scoring” button the toolbar, to “Set competitors rating from ratings file before scoring.”

I cannot repeat your problem with entering a new boat and no rating appearing in the appropriate field. But I do have ratings files in the default folder.

Hope this helps, but again get back to me if not.

Kind regards,

Huw

Yes, sorry didn’t explain myself too
well. There isn’t a check box Handicap Racing”

Thanks for pointing out the autoedit, that seems to solve the problem of calling the PY
number. Then I don’t have a problem as I set the scoring system to Low
Point RYA Handicap. So guess there is no need to check the Handicap Racing box
when I find it.

Ian,

Apologies, I realised over night that I was not running Sailwave v1.96b6 but the previous version. I have just checked Sailwave using v1.95b6 and there is no Handicap check box under Pro version. This has changed at some point recently.

Colin,

Is this a change or a bug? If a change perhaps a comment ought to appear in the development notes

Kind regards,

Huw
