In a round robin series of races, over two days, with 4 flight colours and six races scheduled, due to poor weather only two races were completed. Each race has two starts with two flight colours racing each other at each start. After two races, not every sailor has raced against each other yet and our SIs provide that A8.2 will not be broken if they have not sailed against each other.
Using Sailwave produced some unexpected results as follows:
In SW, I have series tie resolution ticked as “apply A8.1 and A8.2” (but none of the non-standard boxes ticked) and in edit scoring system/race scoring, if I tick “8.2 only applies for boats in same start” I get
Sailor A: 3,1 1st
Sailor B: 3,1 2nd
Sailor C: 6,9 7th
Sailor D: 9,6 8th
The above pairs of sailors have not raced against each other in the same start. In between 2nd and 7th there are no ties
If I now untick “8.2 only applies for boats in same start”
Sailor A: 3,1 1st
Sailor B: 3,1 1st
Sailor C: 6,9 7th
Sailor D: 9,6 8th
I would expect Sailors A and B to be tied but also C and D to be tied?? It also appears that the tick box for “8.2 only applies for boats in same start” is back-to-front.
What am I doing wrong?
My question is anyone using the tick box 8.2 only applies for boats in the same start
which is in the Race scoring tab of the Edit scoring system
In my testing it doesn’t appear to do what I expect - so before I change it I would like to hear from anyone who is using it
