Question: One our bigger races, the PRO and judges still like a paper record, and we have found that having the worksheets from all the folks on the finish line (we have two independently taking notes on the bigger races) really helps in scoring queries.

How are you dealing with that?

I’ll reply for Richard, as I was ARO on one of the committee boats.
We had a paper record of all finishers, and there were other boats
at each mark recording roundings. The paper finish sheets and the
rounding sheets were returned to the race office, so any queries
regarding whether a boat had, or had not, completed the number of
laps could be checked. The data entered on Richard’s tablet was
taken from the paper record. Unless the finishers cross the line in
nice tidy intervals, , it would be impossible to record them direct to the tablet
