As Ian says, the concept has always been to not replace the hand-written
finishing sheets because, in my experience, people can write much faster
than they can type. The thinking was, and still is, that people do the
recording on paper and then use the sailevent.net webapp to convert
hand-written into machine-readable as soon as practicable.
Having said that, the lady wielding the tablet on Ian's committee boat
reported that much of the time she could type in the numbers as boats
crossed the line. When a flurry came along she just left a suitable number
of blank lines and filled them in later. Presumably she also added finish
times subsequently where required.
I guess it depends on the nature of the event and the skills of the
operative. Either way I expect paper finishing sheets, and rounding sheets,
to be part of the process for the foreseeable future.
