Uploading results to www.pyonline.org.uk

Hi Huw.

Ive tried that , but without success - odd as it worked for you.

So tried again with a different file - same frustrating result of no upload and same error messages. I’ve attached the two files (I think they’re amended as suggested) - can you see what I’m doing different?

Have to admit I’m not sure I understand what you meant by ‘where dd is the day in your file’ - I thought it must mean the day in the date in sailwave that the race was run? So a race run on 22nd March 2018 that was originally in sailwave as 22.03.2018 is amended to 2018-03-22 for upload to the RYA. Is that not correct?

thanks

Keith

Hi Keith,

Did you see my earlier reply?

Have you read the help on the Sailwave website at :- https://www.sailwave.com/how-do-i-send-handicap-results-to-the-rya

an extract of which is shown below - The RYA require the date of the race in the format yyyy-mm-dd but the current version of Sailwave will also let you use dd-mm-yyyy or dd/mm/yy which are more natural formats and will do the conversion for you when it uploads

Restrictions

If you use the wind direction field in a start record, it must be specified in degrees. For example 280 or 280.0 or 280.5.

If you use the wind speed field in a start record it must be specified in knots. Use an average(ish) value for the race. For example 12 or 12.0 or 12.5.

You must set race dates (Edit+Race) with the form: yyyy-mm-dd, e.g. 2015-03-21.

In later and current versions of Sailwave you can also use dd-mm-yyyy and dd/mm/yy formats. This conversion is done by Sailwave to make the dates more natural for the users.

I did, however, try uploading your results as a test and it did work.

What was the error you were getting?

I’m just wondering if you are entering the correct Club ID this should be the number issued to you - This is the only thing I can’t test.

Jon

Not an answer to your problem, but I notice that your races are set
(as default) to score by place, but you are entering elapsed times.
This means that for each boat, you have to select Elapsed Time to
enter into the elapsed time box.

If you Edit Race to score as Elapsed Time, the programme will ask

directly for a time - it will save you some clicks and time.
