Thanks for both of you advice.
Using it I was able to do a test run successfully all the way through qualifying and finals for round robin method.
At which point the regatta OA decided to use Appendix LE Addendum C. I have been able to run a successful test of that method as well.
Thanks again.

The answer to the question is either 42 or it depends!

Subject: Re: [sailwave] Use Sailwave to score qualfying races
Hi Gareth,
As Jon is a bit busy on business I am willing to help, Jon and I work together a lot with Sailwave.
Couple of things I have picked up in this thread:
-
Discard profile - this needs to specified as the overall discard profile and the profile for the F-series. There is no separate profile for Q-series.
-
As you are having a Q-series and F-series you need to be careful with terminology. Flights or round robin colour groups are best called flights in the Q-series. and the use Fleets in the F-series.
How is the assignment to the colour groups (Red, Green, Yellow & Blue) going to be done? If it is going to be done by the organisers and you have the entrants in a spreadsheet which contains the colour group assignment for each competitor, you can save yourself a lot of typing. It is easy to import competitors into Sailwave from a CSV file, just need a little care on choosing which Sailwave fields to import the data into!
Once the competitors are in Sailwave with their assigned colour group in a Sailwave field BUT NOT Flight field, it will be easy to use the flight assignment tool to correctly set Sailwave up. Just need to then say use this flight for all races in Q-series.
In each race you will need to have 2 starts in each race. For the Q-series you will need to specify which colour group pairs are each start. REMEMBER that in the select competitors window that you MUST place the colour group selections above each as you need the boolean ‘OR’ selection not ‘AND’, which is side by side.
You will also have to make sure you have the multiple 1sts, 2nds functionality enabled and configured.
Mark Townsend’s guide which is linked to in the footer of most SUG messages will be a very useful read as it covers what you are wanting to do, except for the discard profile.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Huw

I will and can however the regatta starts on Friday
I am assuming that I assign each competitor to a fleet of red, yellow, green or blue and use the competitor selection box to build the flights for each race
Or is this done differently or completely manually?
Do I score as group or

You should be able to use flights - so just set R1 flight (a) to Red and Green competitors and flight (b) to Yellow and Blue then similarly for the other races. So essentially very similar to procedure for normal qualifiers and finals. If you send me your file I’ll set it up for you later in the week when I’m home - Jon

They have changed the format of the qualifying process.
They want to to use a round robin without reassignments.
The competitors will be divided into four groups, red, green, blue, yellow
.
Race 1
Start 1 red & green
Start 2 blue & yellow
Race 2
Start 1 red & yellow
Start 2 blue & green
Race 3
Start 1 red & blue
Start 2 green & yellow
Second day same as above
Results of Round Robin create a final with two fleets
Final score will be best five of qualifying and best five of finals
My understanding that say, in race, start 1, red & green are racing against each other so then need to be scored as a unit, i.e., only one first amongst read & green in this race, one second, etc.
While in race 2, red and yellow, would be the unit.
How do I setup this round robin in Sailwave?
