Hi folks,
we’re evaluating SailWave for our club races. We’ve been using a High Point system.
My understanding is that the high point system can be used in SailWave … but I seem to always be stuck in a “Low Point Context”. I assume there is also a “High Point Context” … can someone point me in the right direction (I’m new to using SailWave).
From the SailWave Features page:
- User definable low and high point scoring systems via flexible expressions.
- Initial low/high point systems include ISAF Low Point, Bonus Point, Rinderle B, Austrian.
Many thanks,
Marc

Hi Marc,
To get High Point scoring take the following steps:
- click Setup on Menu bar then select User Interface
- click beside High Point Scoring
- click beside Multiple scoring systems (not absolutely necessary
but allows easy switching and scoring of a series between different
scoring systems)
- now click the OK button
- now click Scoring Systems on the button bar
- in the window that pops up you will have the default RYA
Appendix A (aka ISAF) scoring system available
- click the New scoring system button the right hand side to create
a copy of the default scoring profile
- now select the new scoring system to edit or double click to edit
- select the Race Scoring tab and at the bottom left you will see
High Point systems options
- select one of the 3 ‘standard’ high point systems or one of the
two custom options; if you select custom formula - an example formula
might be (f-p)+6 where f is the number of finishers in the race and p
the position in which they crossed the finish line or finished once
handicap formula have been invoked. Why +6? Depending on your SI’s you
will/may have to change values for scoring codes - see next point
- select Scoring codes tab - you will need to change the scoring
codes for codes like DNC, DSQ, RAF to fixed points otherwise scoring
throws up funny results. Using my example formula, I set scoring codes
as follows
- DNC fixed points of 0 [zero]
- DSQ fixed points of 2
- RAF fixed points of 4
- DNF fixed points of 5
- under the Series scoring tab you can set discard profile and
qualification profile, as well as modify tie break procedures
- under Rating system tab you can set which handicap rating system
to use
- under the Fleets tab you can apply different rating systems and
scoring systems to different groups of boats
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Huw

Perhaps one of you can help. I am new to Sailwave and used this forum to set up a summer series using CHIPS scoring. I have entered 3 races and successfully scored with CHIPS. I then "publish" the results. Individual races are shown sorted high to low, with the winner of the race on the top of the list. However, the series summary shows total points sorted low to high with the winner on the bottom of the list. How can I also sort the series summary high to low?
Thanks

If you click on the column heading for “Total” (or
“Nett” if you are interested in the figures after discard) in the Series
Summary Table, Sailwave sorts the results according to the values in that
column. The first time you click on the column, the values are sorted high
to low. If you click again on the same column, the values are sorted low to
high. The solution to your problem may therefore be as simple as clicking
one more time on the Nett column in the series summary table! When you
publish the results, the summary table for the series appears as in the Series Summary
table on screen.
