Okay, progress I’ve now sussed out Aliasing (thank folks), and am creating results in VYC and AMS.
However, using the AMS handicapped rating system, does Sailwave adjust the handicap after each race (which is what I require) and how can I see the updated handicap for each race?
Hi John,
AMS ( Australian Measurement System) is where the corrected time is the elapsed time x rating which is the same as TCF (Time Correction Factor)
NHC is currently the only rating system within Sailwave where the ratings change after every race automatically. You can manually change the ratings of each competitor for any race but to implement something such as a progressive/personal handicap that is automatically adjusted after each race then we need to know the rules for making the adjustments.
The RYA publish some rules for this which they have named NHC and Sailwave supports this. Originally released in 2013 the rules were revised for 2014 and are expected to be revised for 2015 so when you are reading about it bear this in mind.
Sailwave supports NHC using built in Calculations or via Excel using a Template. Now here comes the clever bit. The Template is supplied with the download and you can modify this to use your own rules - So select NHC (which by the way is based on TCF same as AMS) and select External mode and it will use Excel to do the calculations. There are some NHC examples in the Sailwave download/install.
So have a play with the NHC and get to understand how that works and then if the algorithm is not what you want you can develop your own template.
As for displaying the ratings either select Race Ratings as the display in the drop down box on the tool-bar (Usually it is displaying something like Scored points) or a quick way is to press F6 then R
