When I enter RGA for average score, the program moves people down or up in standings for that race. I want to be able to enter an average for a boat with out affecting the actual standings for a race. Can this be done in Sailwave?

Hi Jim,
If you look at some of the result details via Edit+Result you should see that Sailwave has not changed any recorded positions as per the RRS - what you’re seeing is the overall position changing; i.e. the overall position based on a ranked set of points. It’s something that the RRS doesn’t clarify very well, but there are in fact two positions for every one-design race; the recorded position and the overall position based on points. When the RRS specify that positions do not change they are referring to the recorded position. I suppose, the overall position is in fact just a reporting issue. Example below.
Recorded results
BoatA - 1st
BoatB - 2nd
BoatC - 3rd
Awarded Points
BoatA - 1.0
BoatB - 2.0
BoatC - 1.5 (Redress)
Final Positions
Boat A - 1st
Boat C - 2nd
Boat B - 3rd
So BoatC for example was 3rd (recorded) but came 2nd )overall).
You can fiddle with the View menu to switch between recorded positions and overall positions.
Is that what you meant…?
