Hi,
v1.44b6 (1.03Mb) has been uploaded with the new internationalisation scheme.
The new scheme is better because its completely generic; the whole of
Sailwave can be translated. See http://www.sailwave.com/doc/locale.htm for
more info. Please let me know (Andreas!) how you get on. The old scheme we
talked about last week is defunct.
Regards,
Colin J

I have tested the new loc. scheme. Here my first experiences:
The new scheme is easy to handle. A problem is the logocal order of the
terms. (e.g. competitor window, file menu, ...)
As expected the length of the strings could be a problem.
Also there are a few elements which will not translated:
- window title
- items in the property bar
- labels into windows (Sailnum wizard)
- tooltips
I recommend the ISO language and country naming conventions (de_DE,
de_AT, de_CH, en_GB, en_US, ...) for the language files.
(ISO 3166 / ISO 639)
Attached is my first try for de_DE (german) language file.

Hi Andreas,
Thanks for your quick response. WRT your comment on grouping - the comment
character for a Windoze ini file is a semi-colon character. Suggest use of
this to structure the generic section. e.g.
;
; Edit Competitor
;
x=y
x=y
Etc.
I'll move to the ISO standard for names; anything to get away from MS. Will
address limitations ASAP.
Regards,
Colin

Hi!
I've been waiting for the possibility to translate Sailwave... And now its running.
But there is som minor problems. Alot of text to type, and lots of "the same text again" like : "New competitior", and "New competitor...". Is that neccesary ?
Also I found the programmers misspelling (Mark all sailed comeptitors as included). Shit happens ??
Well, if it is possible you should distribute a list of ALL words and sentences used in sailwave. Then people (like me) could just translate the words/sentences right after the equal sign..... quite easily. Also, when discovering misspelling you could post a new updated list with all used words/sentences.
I do not know wich developing tool you are using, but it should be possible to dump used text. Otherwise, we could just wait until the first COMPLETE translation is done (mine ???), and THEN grab it !
Hope you get what I'm looking for here!
Also I'll attach the first translation to Norwegian Bokmal (You know that we have two different OFFICIAL languages in Norway ??). I've tried to be structured (in the beginning) when translating. Probably more to come later !
