v37 Beta 5

Hi,

I'm uploaded the fleet-specific race distance tweak as v37 Beta 5 this
evening.

NB: I'm holding off a v37 public release because I've decided to take the
style sheet idea to it's logical conclusion and extend them to HTML template
pages that simply have a reference to where the published results are to be
inserted. Like the styles you'll be able to reference things like the
series title (i.e. the Sailwave object model) using the backquote syntax.
This means that your page headers/footers can be anything you want as well
as defining your styles. Again, no action required if you're happy with the
Sailwave default page layout/style.

** NB: As part of the v37 install the sailwave/styles folder WILL BE REMOVED
and replaced with a sailwave/templates folder. All data in sailwave/styles
will be lost unless you save it first. You only need to save it if you've
been tweaking the styles to suit you. **

Regards,
Colin

Will there be control of what html is between the race tables?
eg. being able to put in HR lines and links back to the top of the
page. I guess what I mean is will it allow custom headers and footers
for each race.

What I was thinking I might like to do would be to have divider
comments before and after each race table and the series table, and
then using some web server side processing in perl or php, select
which race to display out of the one single file, rather than having
to generate and upload each race in turn.
Something like <!-- StartRace race1 --> before the table and <!--
EndRace race1 --> after the table.

Or, here's a thought
What about a publish option that publishes each race table into a
seperate file without any extra formatting. Then a bit of server side
includes could be used to select which race (or combination of races)
to display.

While I'm thinking outloud about automation type things. Does
sailwave have any command line options that would allow you to, for
example, publish a series of files from a batch file.

Thanks

Hi Steve,

Yes eventually...

For now I decided to start the ball rolling by turning HTML generation on
it's head. i.e. pick a HTML page (template) and the page refers back to the
Sailwave object model. For now the only results that can be references will
be the whole caboosh but we can gradually reduce the granularity as time
goes by.

Attached is the default template - notice the reference to 'all the
results'. Future versions will enable you to define your data gathering
publishing <form>s for inclusion in the HTML - for now it's just the
standard publishing wizard.

It's a step in the right direction I think.

Colin
