Just to let those interested I’ve just released a web app that will allow automatic import of results from Vakaros Race Sense files into Sailwave you can find it at this link
RaceSense to Sailwave
It’s currently hosted on Azure. I may move that in the future, so keep a look out here if you want to use it regularly you can either give it the Vakaros racesense xlsx file, or you can just give it a link to where that file is available as a link. It will produce a file that will allow you to import all the results, either one race at a time or even all races for the whole event in one go.
Currently, it’s for one-design boats i.e. scored by place, but if you have an interest for timed boats, let me know and I can probably upgrade it
Let me know if you have any feedback

Jon, the Vakaros system currently works only with one-design boats. The system uses the geometry of the boat, relative to the placement of the Vakaros sensor, to determine an OCS or finishing position. I’m not sure if timed boats is part of their future plans, but it would require a significant change to the system. .

Thanks Peter
I can understand fully why it wouldn’t be an accurate OCS or finishing position without knowing the geometry of the boat. It’s probably near enough for many events. Maybe not World Championships but if it was being used for club events, it’s probably as accurate as many of the spotters record all the timings are actually in the file aren’t they so it wouldn’t be difficult to do?

Jon
