One of our processes is to verify if the results have been entered correctly. This works for most results, but not for results using flights.
The data of three flights was received on two sheets (130+ boats), with the three flights all intermixed. It appears on the screen (before rescoring) but in the order that the screen was last set up (usually the previous ranking…) There is no way to check the data against what was entered…rescoring doesn’t help.
Is there a way to list the data in the order that it was entered?
Regards,
Peter
Hi Peter,
If you select finishes as the method of display
and then click on the race column header so that it is sorted by that race
You get the above followed by
So you can check the order of the entries
They will obviously been extracted into different flights but the order should be correct
Hope that helps
Jon

Hi John,
Yes, your method shows the correct order within the flights, but they would like to see the order as entered regardless of the flight assignments. It allows them to validate the data entry with their paperwork. In this case the 3 three flights were finishing together and were intermixed.

Hi Peter - Once you have entered them into Sailwave it will automatically renumber them based in their position in the flight, the order you entered them is not stored as it is not needed. It is only the position in the flight which matters. If you want to check them against your finishing sheet - simply tick them off on the finishing sheet in the order of the them sorted by flight and finishing position (as per previous email). As long as they are in the same order then the results are correct. Jon

Hi Jon,
Thanks for that information. We were hoping that the entered order was stored internally.
Your suggestion takes a bit more effort, but will work just fine.

Hi Peter, - I understand what you are thinking but in practise you could likely make edits which would then leave it in a very confusing state.
I always turn on the Don’t show competitors that already have a result, and then when I can’t find one because it has already a result I have to go back and edit one because I misread the handwriting of an earlier one. Also sometimes I can’t read a number at all and leave a gap to enter when I see what is left. In these types of situation using the overall sequence of entry would not work. Jon
