Version 2.5

I have recently installed Sailwave v2.5 and have lost my recent data. Is the data embedded in Sailwave? During the installation has the previous version been uninstalled and taken the data with it. I have tried to reinstall from a backup but with out success. I'm running Windows XP Professional V 2002 SP3. How can I recover my lost data, please?

If your data was saved in the original Sailwave installation folder, the installation process deletes ALL files in that folder, see http://www.sailwave.com/category/help/faq, 6th question.

So, unless you have a backup of the files, it doesn't look good :frowning:

I might be wrong but am pretty sure that the sailwave data file is separate from the program and is not deleted with an upgrade installation.

The directory that it is located is customisable, but is under the sailwave folder by default (I think)

Do a search looking for a *.blw file. That should find your files.

Thanks Stewart and Rob for your replies. Perhaps the download page should have a ‘health warning’. In future I will save my data files outside Sailwave and ensure that I back up the data files and not just Sailwave. Fortunately I was able to recover my lost files from the recycle bin.

Thanks again for your advice.

Or does it not ask you to backup… and maybe save them in C:Prog Files.Sailwave Backup? The machine I’m on has a clean vista build on it so no backups to check against…
