Version 2.7.2 - 2 New Features

Hi Jon,

Like the new functionality for creating Alias, it works well. Using Alias>o to change all the boats to a new fleet is worth knowing; it’s not a function I’ve used previously.

I seem to have hit a problem with the sail number wizard today when entering results. I always enter elapsed times and number of laps,
but in 2.7.2 the wizard defaults back to finishing position for every boat which is frustrating as I then have to select the elasped time finish each time I enter a result. Previously this was only the case for the first boat’s result entered for any race.

Keep up the good work.

Jonathan

Message
Hi Jon,

Also noticed that when I publish it is showing “Finishes:Place” rather than “Finishes:Elapsed time” against the individual race results. Linked to the same problem?

Cheers,

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

if You set up Your race with "finishes: Place" (in edit race) the sail-number wizard jumps back to place with every new boat (with beta 2.7.2). If You edit the race and change finisches to elapsed time, You can enter elapsed times without interruption. Your publish problem shows that You set up Your race with "Finishes:Place" instead elapsed time.

Cheers

Christof

Hi Christof,

Thanks for the suggestion, but this problem has occurred with an existing results file. I’d already entered 10 previous races with no problems as the races were configured properly, but for race results entered today using 2.7.2 this problem has occurred. All the races were configured the same. Digging a bit deeper it appears all the races are now showing as “finishes: Place” and race information such as wind speed and direction has disappeared from the 10 races already entered. It seems to be an issue with the latest version of sailwave when using files from previous versions rather than incorrect configuration.

Cheers,

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

I have seen your messages come in. I’m working on another new feature at the moment which I hoped to have finished many hours ago but its more difficult than I thought.

I did mention yesterday on one of the posts that there is a problem in versions 2.6.3 to 2.7.2 Which I discovered while working on 2.8, I have now corrected it I hope. The issue is that it does not save the Starts correctly. I guess if you load a file the first time saved with a previous version it will be ok but if you save it and reload it. then the starts are lost. It is something to do with Colins JSON mods that has caused the issue and I hope this is the problem you are seeing because I have fixed that.

I still have a couple of hours to finish off 2.8.0 but will post it as soon as I can

Thank you for your testing and reporting - Much appreciated

Jon

Hi Jon,

Tested 2.8.1 this afternoon and the problem seems to be resolved. It does appear to have been the problem that you describe, as the changes I’d made to the starts yesterday had gone again when I opened the file today.

Thanks,

Jonathan
