I am a new user to Sailwave and am slowly getting it set up for a small club (13 yachts and 10 race series over 3 months). All seems to be going well except that I am unable to get system to find the rating files.
Using my Mac computer, I have downloaded the VYC yardstick into Numbers and saved it as csv file (however, when I open csv file it still appears as a table rather than words separated by commas).
After saving the VYC yardstick as a csv file, I have closed Sailwave and reopened it, however it states that
“The rating folder does not exist - All MY Files\VYC Yardstick. Please check your setting in the Global options Folder tab”.
I have checked and changed the tab many times trying different locations and names. I suspect that my problem is that I am unsure whether in this tab I need to purely specify the folder location or both the folder location and folder name (i have tried various combinations of both with no luck)
Hi Bruce - Don’t worry the csv file is a text file. It is just when you open it without specifying with what program the computer will (if it has a suitable program installed) open it in a spreadsheet application. If you want to see it as text simply open it with a text editor.
If you then click the View folder content button do you see the directory containing the csv files

Many thanks for your quick reply. I have now opened the cvs file using Text editor as you suggest and the file is OK. However, I still cannot get Sailwave to recognise it. The problem is probably in how I have specified the file location.
I have successfully got around the problem by manually adding the YV rating to each competitor (an easy task with only 13 competitors) and have successfully produce results for both Yardstick and Handicap.
Pleased to hear you are moving forward.
Couple of questions:
I take it that you have checked that the rating CSV file you
want to use is located in the folder you have specified.
You also need to set a check box for the ratings to be read at
scoring time. Click Scoring system on the toolbar and
then select the Rating system tab, followed by
putting a check mark in the Auto set competitor ratings
which is last but one thing in left hand column.
Step 2 needs to be done the for the first time that you score the
series to have Sailwave automatically assign ratings to the
competitors. If you are adding competitors during the series you
may want to leave it set so new competitors have the rating
automatically assigned.
Note the Class name of the competitors boat must match exactly
the name in the rating file to have the rating assigned.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Huw

I need your favour. I ve a sailing race which is including all 3 class boats start together. I ve attached "Sail Num Wizard" and "Score Series" screen shots..
When I m entereing results, sailwave doesn t separete classes and give consecutive
points like 1,2,3,4,5,… instead of 1,2,3, 1,2,3 <by classes>.
I suspect that you have not created starts in each race identifying which competitors are on which start. If you care to send the Sailwave.BLW file I will take a look.
Kind regards,
Huw
