re: Cleartype; there is little I can do from a programming POV (but see
below).
On some LCD screens the manufacturers use a different (i.e. not the order
microsoft assumed!) order for the individual RGB strips which mucks up
cleartype; as far as I know there is no solution. I would be interested to
know if Sailwave entry fields are fuzzy on *all* LCD screens with cleartype
enabled or just a few (as MS claim). If it's all LCD screens perhaps I
could try changing the Sialwave font and see it it helps; but that about the
most I can do from here. See this article:-

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll try changing the font. The reason I
used Tahoma is because is has all the charset varients like japanese and
greek etc. A few others do to though. I'll knock up a test app with
various fonts and ask users to give feedback about which is best. I have
LCDs here but cleartype makes no difference... on or off! It's frustrating
for me too because these is (as far as I know) absolutely nothing I can do
programatically to cater for it.

I thought it was just me!!!
I knew it had something to do with the LCD. Because on CRT it worked fine.
Text is jumbled on ibm T21 laptop, LG a51 centrino laptop, 17 in DELL lcd
desktop and Samsung 17in LCD.
As long as you can type fairly accurately its not a problem, for
me its been
this way for me since I started using sailwave a couple of years ago.
p.s. Colin I bet you're glad not to be at the tiger worlds at the moment,
unless you like swimming in 30-40 knots!!!!
Cheers
Darren.

I've always had the problem on my HP laptop with Cleartype enabled in
Sailwave, what's really strange is that I never noticed the problem in
any other app, I think I may have posted to SUG about it a couple of
years ago.
In fact I haven't had Cleartype switched on for about two years, purely
for Sailwave's benefit!
Cleartype tuning made text easier to read in the rest of Windows (and
many parts of Sailwave, but there are still lots of boxes that are
pretty much unreadable with Cleartype switched on.
