Can anyone help me to not get this wrong again, please?
At the weekend I was entering results for a regatta and, by mistake, entered two full stops between the hours and minutes of the finishing time (eg 12..36.24)
On scoring the series Sailwave placed this competitor last (when in fact they were fourth).
Is there anyway in Sailwave to have it reject or highlight time entered in an incorrect format?
Many thanks - just trying to save ared face moment in the future
Actually, its not necessary to enter full stops in finishing times - e.g. 123624 will be interpreted correctly. Unfortunately there isn’t a Sailwave facility to check time entries. Even a typing error, e.g. 23624 (leaving out the first 1) will get a time way out.
I’ve also made entry mistakes in the rush to get final results out before prizegiving, with unfortunate consequences! I try now to switch the results view to Corrected Time before publishing, to do a consistency check - are there any times obviously out of the norm.

To add to Malcolm’s tip
Use different views & sort facility to double check the results
eg an Optimist & 29er both appearing to have sailed 4 laps soon stands out!
Also, I always ask for a print of the individual race result, in finishing time order, to be posted on the notice board
This allows the competitors to check the data you have entered.
They cannot check the corrected time but will know where they generally finished in relation to others & also the number of laps they did

Unless I'm mistaken thats taken as 12 days 0 hours 36 mins and 24 seconds. So its not obviously wrong to sailwave - just a basic typo.

Thanks to everyone who replied - I like the idea of not entering full stops at all. Otherwise it looks like a case of "More haste, less speed"
Thanks again
