XML

Hi,

I'm in the process of changing the .blw file format from CSV to XML. The
essential results data is *separated* from the sailwave stuff so it means
that with a little effort you can get published results straight out of the
XML files; which implies that Sailwave XML files can be used as a platform
to represent and communicate event results/data in general. The question
is: should the file extension become .xml or stay as .blw... I dunno?

NB: Is anybody going to the (UK) Ally Pally Dinghy Show - I'll probably be
there on the Saturday - likely to be hovering at the Cat stands or the Y&Y
stand... Look for the battered "Sailwave" tee-shirt - It'd be nice to have
a chat...

I would not recommend changing the extension to XML only because that
would change the default file association. XML is associated to Internet
Explorer and/or Visual Studio, you would not want to overwrite that
association. You might want to change it to .swx or .blx or something to
distinguish the files from the current ones however.

I'll be heavily involved on the Cherub stand. Its our lass 50th
anniversary this year, and we're taking my 30 year old Farr designed
& Bethwaite rigged ply veteran as a contrast to the modern all carbon
boat...

We'd be delighted if you (or anybody else) dropped in on the Bewl Valley
Stand (next to the Volvo / RYA youth classes stand) We will be showing a
demo of our new website and also have Sailwave on the laptop!
