I've been asked to help score a laser master's event with Sailwave. So
far we have not found a way to handle the handicaping, which as I
understand, adds fixed amounts to the finish position based on age of
the participant to give the final score.
The scoring is supposed to add 3 points for an Apprentice Master (AM),
2 points for a Master (M), 1 point for a Grand Master (GM), and 0
points for a Great Grandmaster (GGM).
Does anyone know how/if this can be done in Sailwave?

Attached is how we scored the 2003 Laser Masters using Sailwave at Alamitos Bay YC.
We setup 4 scoring code GGM (0), GM (8), MST (16), APP (24) and assinged a fixed number of points equal to the handicap to each. We then setup an extra race and checked “this race is not discardable”, each competitor was given a scoring code which reflects there age group GGM, GM, MST, APP

</details>The North American Laser Masters handicap system rule reads as follows:
NA Master handicap system will be in place. You add the following points to each race to find the overall series winner. - Apprentices - add 3 points - Masters - add 2 points - Grand Masters - add 1 point - Great Grand Masters - add 0 points The results are recalculated and the person with the lowest score wins, etc.
The adjustments are calculated on a per race basis. However, using the audit field would work as well as the solution I used, the audit field would also need to be adjusted each race, in the same way we adjusted the scoring code, to reflect the total adjustment in effect at that point in the series. It would be nice if you could set the penalty could be multiplied by the number of races included in a boats score.
We setup 4 scoring code APP, MST, GM and GGM. We added an extra race and checked “this race is not discardable”. Each competitor was given a scoring code which reflected there age group; GGM, GM, MST, APP. We then adjusted the number of points assigned to each scoring code each race to reflect the correct scoring adjustment; APP = # races x 3, MST = # races x 2, GM = # races x 1, GGM has no adjustment.

Attached is how we scored the 2003 Laser Masters using Sailwave at Alamitos Bay YC.
We setup 4 scoring code GGM (0), GM (8), MST (16), APP (24) and assinged a fixed number of points equal to the handicap to each. We then setup an extra race and checked “this race is not discardable”, each competitor was given a scoring code which reflects there age group GGM, GM, MST, APP
