Interesting - Laser and Laser Radial continuing on a slower trend, Finn and Fireball getting faster!
The RS Tera Pro still isn't listed?

The published number (by RS) for the Tera Pro is 1390, which we've been using for a couple of years.
A Tera Pro won a recent event against Lasers and a Fireball, which could indicate that the rating is a bit generous, but in other events, when the lad sails against our top Optimist sailor, he comes second!

Interesting.
We've been using 1369 which I managed to squeeze out of the RYA this time last year.
Any other offers?

George,
For 2012 we used the following which I sort of extracted from the RYA:
TOPAZ UNO 1236
TOPAZ UNO RACE 1186
TOPAZ UNO RACE (WITH CREW) 1232
TOPAZ UNO RACE PLUS (WITH JIB) 1180
TOPAZ UNO RACE PLUS (WITH JIB & CREW) 1207
TOPAZ UNO RACE X 1169
For 2013 the Toaz Uno has remained unchanges, so we'll be using the above for 2013 too.

Yes uk class sec. We will continue to use 1370. The two sail should be treated separately. I suggest you use the numbers as trial numbers and if you got several good sailors sailing them you can adjust if required.

Thanks for that. I shall now have to take a diploma in Topaz variants. Up to now we have basically said that if it has a gennaker it gets the same as a Feva, if it has one person/one sail it gets 1236 and a bit more if it has a second person on board. Does the jib actually do anything - it doesn't look very big!

George,
As I recall:
Topaz Uno Race is the same as the baic Uno but is sailed with a Mylar fully battened sail
Topaz Uno Race X is the same as the Topaz Uno Race with the addition of an asymentric sail.
Hope that helps.

It has been suggested at me club that if the Sport went doen by 4 then we should also reduce the Pro by 4.
That DOES NOT follow. The Sport has ‘speeded up’ because people sailing it have gained more experience. People move to the pro rig when they are already experienced…

George,
Yep, I help out with the Great Lakes stuff. Not sure if and when next Sailjuice series numbers will be published as the first event isn’t until November. I can ask for you and let you know though.

As I recall:
Topaz Uno Race is the same as the baic Uno but is sailed with a Mylar
fully battened sail
Topaz Uno Race X is the same as the Topaz Uno Race with the addition of an
asymentric sail.
Hope that helps.

now we have basically said that if it has a gennaker it gets the same as

a
second person on board. Does the jib actually do anything - it doesn’t
look
very big!rgds

TOPAZ UNO RACE PLUS (WITH JIB) 1180

Can anyone suggest a rating for RS Tera minisail?
Minisail is a new addition to Tera.
- 2.7 square meters.
- can be used on standard rigs.
This is all I know about it but am thinking to use it for my child 4.4 stone (28kg).
Any suggestion or advice would be very much appreciated.
Regards
David

The published number (by RS) for the Tera Pro is 1390, which we've been
using for a couple of years.A Tera Pro won a recent event against Lasers and a Fireball, which could
indicate that the rating is a bit generous, but in other events, when
the lad sails against our top Optimist sailor, he comes second!regards,

Hello
I saw the following message posted earlier in this thread.
For 2012 we used the following which I sort of extracted from the RYA:
TOPAZ UNO 1236
TOPAZ UNO RACE 1186
TOPAZ UNO RACE (WITH CREW) 1232
TOPAZ UNO RACE PLUS (WITH JIB) 1180
TOPAZ UNO RACE PLUS (WITH JIB & CREW) 1207
TOPAZ UNO RACE X 1169
Does anyone know the source where these detailed ratings were extracted? I could not find anything like these in RYA.org.uk.
In the manufacturer's online brochure, http://www.toppersailboats.com/pdf/brochures/Topaz%20Dinghy%20Range%20Brochure.pdf, ratings are listed as follows. Even though this hasn't been updated, numbers are really generous comparing with the ones listed above.
TOPAZ UNO PLUS, Sail Area 7.39m2,PY:1255
TOPAZ UNO RACE, Sail Areas 8.68m2, PY:1240
TOPAZ UNO RACE X, 8.68m2 +8.00m2 spinnaker, PY:1200
Regards
David
