Urgent help please

Dear SUG members, I sent you a photo. In the photo, the text that says “Sailed: 12, Discards: 3, To count: 9, Entries: 8, Scoring system: LOW POINT SYSTEM” is marked. How can I delete this text? I’m currently in a competition, so I would be very grateful for your reply.image0.jpeg

Hi Naturel

Welcome to the Sailwave User Group

I don’t understand why you want to remove it but you could use an effect

I’ve attached an Effect RemoveCaption that will remove the caption from all summary tables

Look forward to understanding why you want to remove it and if this does what you want

RemoveCaption.js (338 Bytes)

Jon

Hi

If you can’t download the effect, in the previous post, you can download it from here

Remove Caption Effect

Hope that works

Jon

A more direct way would be to open the html results file with Notepad, look for and delete that sentence, then save.

I do that to delete the “Overall” at the top of results tables.

Hi Malcolm,

A quick observation. Your suggestion works if you are publishing to a file on your local PC. It does not if you are publishing to Sailwave server or to club/class/event server using FTP.

Kind regards,
Huw

Huw,

I publish to a PC file, edit, then ftp to my hosting server (via filezilla).

Works for me. Why would you say it wouldn’t work? Such actions wouldn’t be relevant to publishing directly from Sailwave to the SW server.

Hi Malcolm,

I did say your suggestion works.

Your method using FTP works

I was not as clear as I should have been regarding “club/class/event server via FTP”. I didn’t make clear I was meaning using the FTP option from the list of publishing destinations in Sailwave its self, from the drop down list of destinations on the second publishing window.

Kind regards,
Huw

I’ve just started using Sailwave, so I’m a beginner. Thank you for your help.

Hi Jon, actually my intention wasn’t to remove the text. I understand there’s a section for changing the footer and header on the table. I’d like to know where I can find this footer and header section in the program.

Hi Naturel,

The header information is ‘controlled’, by header.txt or header2.txt file and the footer information by footer.txt file in the Templates folder.

Please remember that the information in footer.txt cannot be removed. Additional information can be added.

Kind regards,
Huw

Thanks, Huw. I’m using version 2.38.2-1 and I can’t find the Templates folder. Could you also help me with where it’s located or how to create it?

The folders for styles, templates, scripts, etc are here:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sailwave\

Thanks, now that I’ve found sailwave here, what’s the next step?

Huw, I have another question: how is the Orc score calculated in yacht races?

Hi Naturel,

Please expand your questions:

ORC corrected times are calculated using formula c = e * r, where
c = corrected time
e = elapsed time
r = rating for the race where the rating value can depend on wind strength and course type (Sailwave can handle this by using wind indexed ratings functionality)

Kind regards,
Huw

First of all, thank you very much for answering my question about Orc. My question was: “I’m using version 2.38.2-1 and I can’t find the Templates folder. Could you tell me where this folder is located or how to create it?” TorinoIrish replied: "The folders for styles, templates, scripts, etc are here:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sailwave" Based on that answer, I asked how to proceed.

Dear Huw, Orc is a very detailed score for me. I need a document like a father’s handbook. If you could send it to me in that format, I would be very grateful. Best regards.

The files in the templates folder are not normally edited but to modify the header and/or the footer for all templates, edits are made in a text only editor like Notepad or Notepad++. To edit the file you need to know HTML.

To use a template or style you select what you want from the drop down lists on the second publishing window. In this window you can also select what ‘Effects’ you want to apply.

There is a Sailwave User Guide available for download from the Sailwave website - Sailwave User Guide | Sailwave.

Kind regards,
Huw

Hi Naturel,

Yes ORC is a challenge to configure. I have written a document on Wind Indexed ratings. It is not specific to ORC but hopefully it will help you get started, you can ignore the guidance on dual scoring in the document.

Sailwave_User_Guide-2020 V1 Dual ScoreDefault and WInd Indexed Ratings.pdf (515.7 KB)
