Pdf printed results with strange characters

Hi Everyone.

Huw and Jon.
I am able to print any type of file from the app it is generated with (GDocs, GSheets, MS Word, MS Excel, Notepad, etc.) and the generated PDF shows portuguese characters.

Sailwave doesn’t offer more locale options. My SW character set to ANSI - USA and Western Europe . For that reason SW doesn´t deal so well with portuguese accented word like PÃO , CAFÉ, AMAPÁ and so on. When processing results in SW I simply remove the accents.

I am able to copy texts inserted for example in SW notes tab, and paste this text in any desktop app, and the result is ok.

I publish then the results using PDF printer . Tried a lot of them, and all return the odd characters.

Is there a workaround to this situation that occurs in SW only ?

I will really appreciate that you help me to find a solution for this.
Looking forward tou your reply, I thank you.
Have a nice week !
Renato

Hi Renato,
Take a look at information Jon posted in this thread here in the forum - Character sets with special chars

See if the information helps.
Kind regards,
Huw

Thanks HUW.
It seems that is not my case.
I am able to import a CSV file from GForms to populates the competitors list, save the SW file, print to a browser .

The problem appears when I print to a PDF file, no matter the PDF printer driver I choose:

Hi Renato,
Do the characters show correctly in the browser? If they do then it is an issue with the PDF printer driver, which Sailwave has no control over

Can you send me the HTML file you publish before you create the PDF?

Kind regards,
Huw

Hi Renato,

I see Huw has correctly pointed you to a short article I recently posted on the Sailwave User Group.

If you could send me the files you are using, I can have a look and see if I can advise on what might work for you

Jon

blwA4D4.htm (5.2 KB)

HTML file shows regular characters. I am able do copy text directly from this file and paste it anywhere with normal characters.

If I copy text from the PDF file created upon this HTML file (no matter the PDF printer I choose), which appears normal in the window of the PDF viewer, and paste this text in any word processor (Notepad, GDocs, MS Word) the text changes to oddo characters.

Hi Renato

This is what the pdf looks like

and when I copy and paste this into Pages I get this

which looks sensible

I do note that you are using a old version of Sailwave to conform to RRS-2025 you need to use the latest version

Regards

Jon
